My film has represented the nerdy and more bad-ass social groups as chess is stereotypically a nerd game/hobby which they would play and enjoy. However the way i have also twisted the film means it could also relate to the rebellious bad-ass druggie type of group as Russell portrays Luigi as a one of these type of people being steadily converted to one of
the chess nerds.
Russ who plays Luigi plays a similar role to Matt Bucknor played by Elijah Wood. They both play the main character and they both get kicked out of college and then move to England to find themselves wind up into the world of what used to be sports completely alien to them beforehand. They eventually become sucked into this sport and find themselves unable to leave this new world of theirs.

evaluation question 1
The title of the film is called Knights Square which is a pun for the piece used in chess, the knight resembles a chess piece and the square also resembles a place on the chess board so it all has a coinsidence as to why its called that.
The opening sequence has two settings, the first was set in the library which made a good setting for the big chess game. Whereas the second was set in my house aiming to represent the university dormitory, this was probably the best place to film this scene as it would be very hard to film it elsewhere or at an actual university.
However, i can admit my choice of costumes and props werent very good overall as looking back through the film there were errors within my choices of costumes and props. I could of chose my costumes a bit more wisely for the chess scene with my presenter possibly wearing a suit and making the chess players wear more formal clothing. I also could of got a gathering to create a sport-like atmosphere.
There have been several problems with my editing as i have had problems with my computer trying to edit my film as it has shut down on me whilst doing it and have lost alot of editing time and work. My camera work overall was rather good as my choice of camera shots were well suited to the particular shot. Although there was one particular shot which wasnt very good as the camera was quite stuttery and needs improving.
The opening of my story is meant to make you feel confused as if i did the whole film it will all eventually tie in and fall into place so it eventually makes sense. My opening signifies roughly what my film is about as it sets the scene straight away into the chess match showing what the main theme of the film is about.
The characters are all introduced with a bang to show suprise, Sam is shown as a enthusiastic presenter as he shows excitement in his speech. Matt and Adam are both presented as serious and competitive chess players to show the seriousness of the sport in general. Russell is portrayed as a rebellious, drug-taking teenager who dosnt ever take the rules in consideration but disguises it to the whole college or else he gets expelled. Ben is portrayed as a very serious headmaster who only expects the best out of his students and wants to be seen as successful and glorified but he is suprised when he catches Russell one of his supposedly finest students taking crack cocaine.

evaluation question 4
The target audience for my film will be aimed at teenagers around 14-20 and will be aimed at the social group of geeks as it is about chess, but could also to relate to the badass drug taking group as the character Luigi starts off as a rebellious drug taking person and changes and gets taken up into chess. They will generally have watched films such as dodgeball, talladega nights and blades of glory, so they will understand that chess is another film and sport they can laugh at and take the mick out of, they could possibly relate to the sport aswell that they like playing. They will more than likely want to play it in their spare time or just go out for fun and watch the film because it is in a similar band of films to dodgeball etc...
They may decide to shop at any range of places for a teenager, most nerds may go to typical nerdy places such as the library and most gaming shops. On the other hand, a more badass social group might tend to shop in jd with their colour c-ordinated tracksuits, they will tend to hang around in the streets because they probably wont have anything else better to do.

Evaluation question 3
A production company is responsible for the production of all forms of media such as film, radio and TV. It is also normally responsible for the funding of a production, it may be achieved through an ambassador for the production company. The size of the company is irrelevant as long as it sells products to a film studio at a theatrical venue.
A distributor is part of the production company that distributes its products/films to, it also distributes the film out to the audience so they can gain profits and the audience can receive the production made.
The funding for a film like mine will have come entirely from the production company itself, the production company i have chosen is twentieth century fox as it is normally a typical production company for comedies like mine.
My film is similar to dodge-ball as my opening is very unclear to watch as it is supposed to be confusing which is just like the opening in dodge-ball nothing is very clear to learn in the film after 2 minutes. Although when commencing the project I did aim to make the film as a mick-take of Green Street which had a similar opening base with the main character being kicked out of college and moving to Britain to make a fresh start with his relatives over there. But my opening had to be altered as this was too complex to carry out at the time, so the opening became a bit clearer as to the genre of the film. But in terms of the film as a package, it would have to be more similar to dodge-ball as the locations, budget and crew size would aim to be of a very similar size.
For a film like mine the funding would have come from the film production company as well as other forms of advertising that would have tried to promote the film, such as trailers and posters in shops such as HMV. But the majority of the money will have come from the production company which in this case is paramount as they are the ones wanting to make the film a success.
Certain job roles are only listed because they try and list the stars of the film and the director who made it, if it is a big film that's spent a lot of money then they're always going to mention the list of box office stars who will help make the film a lot of money. Whereas if a film doesn't have many big stars then they wont bother in trying to headline these names to promote it and just concentrate on promoting the film itself. But if the films have the money and stars to show off then they generally will do it to help draw in a mass profit.

comments about the film
My general feedback from the class was that i needed to put a bit more into the chess mis-en-scene by possibly making it a bit more of a formal occasion to fit with the championship final. There were suggestions on making Sam our presenter wearing a suit as streotypically presenters of sports programmes will be wearing formal clothing such as blazers, shirts and ties. Plus there were recomendations to change the background to make it plainer without the books in the background and make it look more like the occasion itself, with a possible use of a crowd to make it seem a popular event with the audience, rather than just a quiet library.
filming progress
I finally finished all of my filming on sunday the 20th of march. I had various difficulties along the way hence my lateness for completing it. This has been mainly down to my choice of actors, a few have seemed to let me down in the past so i restricted the amount of people involved in my opening just so i could finish it. I therefore restricted it down to 7 actors overall, with 4 on the chess scene and 3 on the italian scene. With this sudden choice i was able to complete it all on time and made it easier for myself overall. My chess scene was filmed in the LRC at school as this was the easiest place to film a chess scene in where we have our library. I filmed the italian scene at my house as it was an easy place to alter into an italian university, i made a plaque to represent that its a uni and i changed my room so that it looked similar to a dormitory, overall i felt i did an ok job with my mis-en-scene. I also made ben who was playing the headmaster wear a suit as its stereotypical of a headmaster to be wearing posh, formal clothing.

Delay in filming
Again we have had to delay our filming due to our choice of location needing to be booked in advance. We have therefore acted upon this by booking a date in advance to next week so we can have the location all to ourselves. That way we cannot be disturbed by outside interferences from other students.

Update on filming progress
At the moment in my filming progress i have had personal difficulties as my characters used for my film have struggled to be available for filming days. I feel i have demanded too much from my actors as i have decided i need 10 people for filming. For this reason alone i have decided i need to change my opening sequence so i can get the opening done in time for my deadline and so i can have a more realistic chance of completing it in general. I have decided to make the opening involve less characters just simply so i can complete it. Plus i can still make it fit perfectly into my film.

music in my genre
The music used in the genre i aim to replicate is over the top on the dramatic and tense parts of the film. When the bad guys are in the film, the music becomes all edgy and loud which would signify White Goodman's personality and his arrogance and competitiveness is clear to spot by the audience. Whereas Peter La Fleur has a softer and calmer tone of music in the film which also portrays his personality but also signifies that the good guys are no hopers and arent really expected of alot, but however conventionally the no hopers always seem to triumph in the end of a comedy film.

Feedback from my presentation
In my presentation i was given some useful feedback that i have taken as some friendly advice, i have beared that in mind. They have questioned the seriousness of chess as im going to take it seriously in my film. They also introduced the thought of it being similar to boxing e.g. in the black corner... Also noted was the seriousness of the chess being taken as a comedy, which is my ideal plan for my film to be based like. There was also a suggestion about doing chess in the theatre aswell as a possible outcome after which may possibly work.

Plan for production
I will aim to commence filming on Sunday the 16th of January as it is the best date to start filming my film. It will be filmed at page park as it is a very suitable place to commence the opening of my film, it has the features to help make it a very handy place to film the fight. I will aim to film the whole opening on this day at page park as it will fit the whole opening 2 minutes on the day. This is because it is easy to film a short space of time in one day.

Textual analysis- Green Street
I have decided to analyse "green street" as it links back to my film genre of sports comedy and drama. I have based most of my film on green street as it is a very good storyline to try and emulate it. I have decided to alter the storyboard and make it about chess instead of football to create some humour within the film. This will help aid me for my dramatic side of the film as the storyline is very similar. The variety of fast and slow shots are conventional for a dramatic film. The intense music and dramatic irony are also conventional for these films. I will aim to try and create a fair blend of drama and comedy in my film.

Target Audience
I believe my target audience for my film Knight Square will be aimed at teenagers aged around 15-20 as it is a fair blend of humour and violence. I feel films that are linked with my genre of film are dodgeball which is portrayed as a humourous film, i have based this film for the humerous side of my film as i feel it is a very successful comedy and is suited to my film. However my choice of a violent and hooliganism film was Green Street as i feel it is perfectly based for my genre, it is easy because the film is about football hooliganism and it is easy to replicate as my film is about chess parody and hooliganism so therefore i just need to change the terminology and can replicate the violent side of the film. Overall i would rate the certificate as a 15 as its too old for its hooliganism and the comedy woould bring it down from an 18 to a 15.
